Details of types of questions asked in each of the sections:
The aptitude test had 4 sections- quant, english and general apti, and a HR section.
questions asked very easy, about MAT level. They had specially designed michelin booklets, with 17-18 questions
each of quant, english and apti. plus they had a HR section wid questions like what is ur aim in life, strengths,
weaknesses, key leadership roles, teamwork roles, achievement most proud of, etc. these questions play a very
important role in the interviews. they actually read those. Many of my friends thought that they wouldnt and wrote
arbit stuff. But they did.In the second interview at chennai, they grilled us thoroughly on these. Replies should be
heartfelt and sincere, and should be interesting and promising too. There should always be something more that u
can offer than the other guy. I wrote very well-thought out answers and the head HR guy at chennai was very
impressed.
3 stages-Written test, Interview -1 HR round (I alone had 2 rounds, the interviewer said, "I want 2 get 2 know u
better!"), and selected candidates(11) were called for interview at chennai. At chennai, we had 2/3 rounds of HR
interviews, by individuals with 20-35 years of experience. They were all foreigners, one from Netherlands, UK and
US.
6 of us went to chennai, the others had already gotten jobs. All 6 were selected. They are in strong need of
employees rightr now, so they have lowered their standards a lot.

Technical Interview

There were technical questions in chennai about my projects at ADANI POWER n NTPC, plus my final year project,
but really simple stuff. They wont focus much on technical stuff, because at present they are just taking in people,
they ill make us undergo 2 yrs foreign training and then allocate departments according to choice or capability.

HR Interview

In the college, HR questions were lite typ, they mainly check if the guy is genuine or is he faking it, like most
students do, after reading interview guides n stuff.I would strongly advise against it. I myself was truthful most of
the time, but even i faked a no. of times, the point being that you should be able to pull it off; otherwise, u r out.
Interview at college was really no biggie.
They took us 2 Chennai later, paying AC 2 tier fare and kept us in a 4star hotel, green park. The experience was
awesome!!! The HR guys asked such questions that there was not even the slightest hope of faking. They are real
pros, study facial expression and body language, perspiration speed of talking and everything. The first interviewer
found out everything there was about me in 30 mins-full 2 pages of stuff.
The second interviewer was a bit more lite, he smiled and laughed a lot, n i joked around quite a bit.We were told 2
go after that, but after some time, the third interviewer, an American, called me.He was the head of the panel, i
think. He said, i am extremely impressed by you. Your profile is most deserving and stuff. I love how u write
english, i used to write lyk dat. n he chatted wid me 4 a full 40 mins!!! By the end, even tho it went extremely well, i
was sweating!
He then asks me if i have any questions. I had already asked the other 2 interviewers all the questions I needed 2
know, so I didn't know wat to ask. So i asked him if he cud show me a euro note!!! :D He did, along with Chinese,
Taiwanese and other currencies also!!! He said at the end that generally we sit down together b4 disclosing who is
selected, but i am very impressed by u.I am sure you would do very well wherever you go.

Suggestion

Michelin has invested 7000 crores in the new plant in Chennai, to be operational in 2012. Their company reputation,
along with the experience of working in a "green-park" project is alone invaluable. In addition, if they give u the
choice of selecting your desired dept, and offer a salary of 5lacs p.a., which is greater than any present core
company offers in our company, then i would really recommend it as one of the best opportunities in our campus
recruitment process.
If u r interested in core, i would definitely advise u 2 take Michelin seriously.

No. of Candidate applied And Points that Worked in Favour

1.Michelin was the the world's largest Tyre producer till Goodyear and bridgestone joined up.So opportunity wise, its
an extremely good one.
2.Plus its a new plant, so u get to be with it 4m the beginning, which is an invaluable experience.
3.Plus u get to travel a lot and see the world!!!!!!
That was one of my main reasons 4 joining.I love traveling. When i said that 2 the third interviewer at Chennai(Nick)
he said dats very gud, we usually have problem finding mobile guys. If u r mobile, u will have loads of opportunities
at Michelin.
4.Also, u get to choose ur department afterward. That's a very good option, because wen people sit for placements,
they don't usually know what they want clearly. I couldn't decide whether to go 4 core(low paying) or software(high
paying, but monotonous) or management jobs(which are very rare). Here I get to choose properly.
5. Compared to other core jobs(3-4lacs), Michelin offers a very good salary of 5 lacs + foreign allowances.
6. We encountered a problem, which was that their HR was very screwed up. They kept saying different things to
different people about Salary( 3-5 ? or 5? or 4? or 4-5? ) and bond (2.5 lacs? or 3 lacs? or 4 lacs?). In the end they
said salary is 3-5 based on ur performance in interview, and bond is of 3lacs, 5years. That's why venugopal sir
changed it to normal status.
All this is not professional, but its not wholly unexpected. Michelin is starting fresh in India and may not have much
idea about Indian salaries, etc.
